Scaling and Root Planing

Gum disease can cause plaque to build up underneath your gum line, pulling the gums away from your teeth. The most common treatment for this type of gum disease is a process known as scaling and root planing. During scaling and root planing, one of our dentists will deep clean the area underneath your gums to remove plaque and bacteria. They will then smooth out the area to make it easier for your gums to reattach and make it harder for plaque to build up there in the future.
