A dental crown covers the entire tooth from the gums to the chewing surface. That’s why many of our patients call crowns “tooth caps.”

Candidates for Dental Crowns
A restores the look and function of a fragile tooth so you can smile with confidence. Our dentists also use same-day dental crowns to anchor bridges, cover dental implants, and restore teeth after root canals.
Dental crowns can fix teeth that are:
- Cracked
- Broken
- Badly decayed
- Discolored
- Misshapen
While dental crowns are primarily used to restore teeth to their original strength, they can also be used for cosmetic purposes. For example, dental crowns can cover deep pitting and staining caused by fluorosis (a condition caused by too much fluoride). Dental crowns can also cover misshapen teeth in the “smile zone.”

Same-Day Crowns
The used to take two trips to the office. Now, we use computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) to place your dental crown in one appointment.
This means that you don’t have to deal with the discomfort and inconvenience of a temporary crown. You also won’t have to miss as much time off from work or school.
First, one of our dentists will numb your tooth and surrounding tissue. They’ll then file down the chewing surface and sides of your tooth to make room for the crown.
Next, one of our dentists will take digital impressions of your teeth. Digital dental impressions are highly precise, which means your same-day crown will look natural and fit comfortably.
Once the images are sent to our computer, our dentist will then start designing your new dental crown right in front of your eyes! When the dentist is done designing your crown, they’ll send it to the milling machine in our office, which will sculpt your same-day dental crown from a block of ceramic. Our same-day dentists carefully select the correct shade so your ceramic crown matches the rest of your smile.
When your dental crown is ready, we’ll cement it to your tooth. Getting a same-day crown is not only convenient but saves you the hassle of a temporary crown and second appointment. Instead, we’re able to plan and place your ceramic crown the same day!
